Born in Vernon, Texas, to Oswald and Elaine Haynes, Tina is the oldest of three children. Tina and her siblings, Merca Wren and Maurice Haynes, had a wonderful childhood. While living in Lubbock, Texas, Tina met Darrell, the love of her life, at Avenue N Church of Christ. Darrell and Tina married on February 10th, 1951, only two days after her 18th birthday, and their adventures began. Tina and Darrell lived in several different places, such as Ballinger, San Angelo, and Midland, Texas, Billings, Montana, and Bismarck, North Dakota. Darrell and Tina finally settled back in Fort Worth and started their family. James Ronald, their only son arrived in 1959, and Ella Michelle and Leah Melissa joined the family in 1967 and 1968 respectively. Before Darrell’s passing in May of 2014, Darrell and Tina celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary.
Tina had a passion for family, children, education, adventure, and artwork. She and her family spent many weeks each year camping in places such as Big Bend, Yellowstone, and Montana, and summer days were spent at the GDRA swimming pool. Tina loved education so it was no surprise she received two masters degrees, one in English and one in Mathematics. She eventually became a teacher, teaching math at numerous schools in Fort Worth, including Southwest, Northwest and Paschal High Schools. She loved helping others. Upon her retirement from education, Tina took her hobby of watercolor painting to a new level and received numerous awards and ribbons for her creative works. Tina was a member of and recognized by several art societies, including ISEA, International Society of Experimental Artists, and Women of Worth. Her art has been in numerous galleries and contests, but her favorite place to display her art is in the homes of those she loves.
Tina was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Darrell Greenlee, and her parents, Oswald B. and Elaine Derington Haynes.
